Foreword
Since early 2010 and the release of the Religious Education Strategic Plan 2010-2015, this office has
been working closely with schools to explore how we might reconceptualise our Religious Education
curriculum to better respond to changing demographics and the introduction of the Australian
Curriculum. The result is this important document together with an innovative curriculum website and
theological App.
The Religious Education Curriculum brings into closer alignment the Religion Curriculum P-12 and the
Religious Life of the School P-12. Both dimensions work together to bring about the fullness of our
Vision for Religious Education:
The schools and colleges of the Archdiocese of Brisbane aspire to educate and form students who are
challenged to live the gospel of Jesus Christ and who are literate in the Catholic and broader Christian
tradition so that they might participate critically and authentically in faith contexts and wider society.
The Religious Education Curriculum is authoritative. This curriculum has been promulgated by the
Archbishop for use in all Catholic and ecumenical schools in the Archdiocese of Brisbane.
I congratulate the staff of Brisbane Catholic Education Religious Education Services for their work
in the design and development of this significant text, the Religious Education curriculum website
and the theological ‘App’. I thank Principals, Assistant Principals Religious Education, school
implementation teams, teachers, clergy and all others who provided support to the consultative
process. The collaborative work of so many has resulted in a curriculum that I hope will engage,
inspire and challenge the students in our schools.
With every best wish and blessing for your continued work in the ministry of Catholic Education.

Pam Betts
